AIM

To assess and gain experience in using digital communication for queries related to prescriptions, and to compare this with the current use of telephone.

METHOD

The pilot will collect data on communication between pharmacies and GPs, covering themes, implementation, benefits, disadvantages, barriers, and experiences of digital messages versus phone calls.

RESULTS

Eight pharmacies and twenty-two GPs were recruited for the pilot. Baseline and kick-off meetings have been conducted, and data collection is ongoing. The level of communication among participants is lower than anticipated.

CONCLUSION

The approach for data collection and kick-off meetings worked well, but the need for communication has so far been low. Expanding the pilot periode and engaging additional pharmacies and GPs could help gather more data, supporting the decision-making process for implementing a national digital communication system.
